Embellished headline
IN REFERENCE to the police report headed 'Teen bashed at fundraiser' in a recent edition of The Murray Pioneer (30/3/10), I would like to express my disappointment in your reporting of the incident.
The Renmark Skate Park had been a welcome addition to the town and has been well used since opening to the public.
In addition to the facility itself, the site has quickly evolved into a social meeting place for the town’s youth – a perfectly acceptable arrangement.
Further, the park has also become a favourite spot for families, one of which could have endured a nasty experience last weekend, had a child cut themselves on broken glass carelessly discarded around the park. Only good fortune prevented such an incident.
To the idiot – or idiots – responsible for the broken glass, the message is simple: Don’t ruin the skate park experience for others.
For anyone who sees such behaviour, report the people immediately. They deserve what’s coming to them.
Roads are OK, it’s the drivers
Statistics on road safety along national highways were released yesterday.
Data on some spots, including an ‘area’ around Berri and Barmera, suggests certain roads are suddenly becoming more dangerous for motorists, not less.
While it may be a cliché, in these instances it is worth trotting out one more time: Roads don’t cause accidents, drivers do.
In reality, most of the stretches of road mentioned by the RAA are, in all likelihood, perfectly safe, provided the road rules are followed and all motorists drive responsibly.
