School relocation
THE RELOCATION of the Riverland Special School has been ongoing since 2004 when the governments wanted to redevelop the existing site when there was around 40 plus students.
Embellished headline
IN REFERENCE to the police report headed 'Teen bashed at fundraiser' in a recent edition of The Murray Pioneer (30/3/10), I would like to express my disappointment in your reporting of the incident.
THE RIVERLAND Musical Society greatly regrets the loss of Fletchers Freighters from the Riverland business scene.
Barry Fletcher and his team have been very generous supporters of the society for many years and it is thanks to them that we have been able to borrow and return large, bulky scenery and props for our shows from interstate and Adelaide at no cost.
Without the cargo space so freely offered by Fletchers, we could not have considered bringing these items to the Riverland.
Fletchers also provided the transport and the driver to move our shows into and out of the Chaffey Theatre, late at night, again at no cost to us.
Whilst we appreciate that our loss is insignificant in comparison to those who have lost their jobs, it is another example of how current economic conditions reach right into and hurt every facet of the community.
We wish Fletchers and all their employees good fortune in the future and our grateful thanks for their generous sponsorship in the past.
